CaddyDaddy First Class Carry
Is there any form of travel better than golf travel? We don’t think so, as evidenced by the many THP Experiences we’ve hosted over the years. Destination golf is one of life’s great pleasures, though we can’t always say the same thing about actually getting to our destination. Whether it’s cancellations, crowds, or just wresting luggage around, the most challenging parts of any trip take place before and after the parts we love. Caddy Daddy has a number of products that make the traveling portion of traveling a little easier, and they’ve just dropped a great golfer-centric bag, the First Class Carry-On Wheeled Duffel, that is as ingenious as it is convenient. Better yet, it mates up perfectly with any of their wheeled travel covers.
What makes this bag different than the rest? Let’s find out!
The First Class is best described as either a hybrid or combo bag. It features two main compartments, which Caddy Daddy calls their Drop-Top design, and they are both very different in build and function. The main wrap-around zipper unzips to reveal the bottom compartment, which is perfectly sized to hold plenty of clothing for a multi-day trip.
Upon closing and zipping up the lower portion, the upper duffel area is revealed. It’s roomy and can hold any number of accessory items. Caddy Daddy specifically marks a portion of this duffel area for holding shoes, with a fleece-lined top-loading pocket that is ventilated specifically for them, but if you choose to store your shoes with your clubs it provides tons of storage for whatever else you may need to bring.
At first we wondered if the dual-compartment design was really going to be useful, but time (and a great trip to Ballyhack in Roanoke, Virginia) showed that it was incredibly handy for organization. Clothing was held securely in place, away from larger items that could add unwanted wrinkling. Better yet, it provided a way to separate dirty and clean clothing for the trip home. This would be even more vital were one to carry shoes in the duffel area.
In addition to the two main compartments, four side pockets, two of which are fleece-lined, add to the storage capacity. All the smart ideas in the world mean little without quality materials and construction. The First Class is constructed of military grade ballistic nylon that exudes durability in hand. All the pockets are secured by large, heavy-duty zippers that give the impression they’ll last for years. Caddy Daddy is so confident in the First Class’s durability that they are offering a two-year, full replacement warranty that even covers airline damage.
The fact that the First Class bears so much resemblance to a duffel bag made us wonder how well it would function as a rolling carry-on. Fortunately, a firm bottom side, two rolling wheels, and a telescoping handle made it a breeze moving through airports.
Better yet, included straps allow it to mate to the handle of a Caddy Daddy travel cover, meaning you can pull both bags behind you with one hand. This proved to be so convenient during the long walk from the gate to baggage claim, and on to the shuttle pick-up area at O’Hare. The only concern that we have, but didn’t personally encounter, is that the First Class is slightly oversized for a carry-on. With airlines continually reducing the size of what constitutes a carry-on bag, we recommend checking size requirements before heading to the airport.
