The Crookston Chamber of Commerce will have its Crookston Chamber End of Summer Golf Scramble! Gather your team of five golfers and hit the course for some golf, games, prizes, and fun. This will be $80 per individual or $400 per team. Event and hole sponsorships will be $100 per sponsorship. The tournament will take place on Tuesday, August 29. Registration will be at 9:00 a.m., with a shotgun start at 10:00 a.m. The tournament will be 18 holes. You can drop off the registration form (TBD) at the Chamber office or register by calling Erin LaPlante at 218-289-1867.

Crookston Home-delivered meals will be provided by American Federal Bank, United Valley Bank, and Noah Insurance Agency through Friday, September 1.

The North Country Food Bank is looking for volunteers today from 9:00 a.m. to noon to pack produce for their upcoming Mobile Drop. To sign up to volunteer, call Megan Polley at 218-399-7361 or email [email protected]

The Golden Link Senior Center will have a Lions Club meeting and lunch at 12:00 p.m. today.

Scruffy Tails Humane Society will host a Microchip Day today from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Cost is $40 per animal, including registration, and onsite registration will be available.

The Crookston Eagles Club will have $8 dollar burger baskets tonight from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

DNR Hunter Safety Training for youth aged 11 and older will be on August 29 and 31, September 1, 5, 7, and 8. Field Day and Test will be on Saturday, September 9. The Fisher American Legion will have Wednesday Night Burger Night on Wednesday, August 30.

Register now for the Benedictine Living Community Golf Glow Ball Tournament Fundraiser on Saturday, September 9 at Minakwa Golf Course. On the day of the Golf Tournament, registration starts at 3:30, 1st 9 hole Shotgun Start at 4:00 p.m., followed by supper and raffle drawings, 2nd 9 hole Glow Golf will be at sunset with awards and more raffle drawings to follow. Proceeds go to Benedictine Living Community in Crookston.

All Lake Agassiz Regional Library (LARL) branches and LINK sites will be closed on Monday, September 4, in observance of Labor Day, with operations resuming Tuesday, September 5.

The Polk County Historical Society Pioneer Day will be Sunday, September 10, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Polk County Museum. The event opens with lunch and pie, exhibits, tours, blacksmithing, and lefse-making demonstrations, a display of “Hit and Miss” engines, musical entertainment by Four Mile Portage at 1:00, Lyndon Johnson at 2:15 and The Woodpicks at 3:30. Free Wagon rides from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Free admission, but donations are greatly appreciated. A free bus will run between the Sugarbeet Museum and Polk County Historical Society Museum. This activity is made possible, in part, by an Arts Legacy Grant from the Northwest Minnesota Arts Council.

Twig and Branch Collection will be held on the second and fourth Mondays from June through October. Place the materials on your curbside. Branches must be cut into four-foot lengths and bundled by the crew to take them away. Annuities or tree trunks not cut to this length and bundled will be left for the owner to haul away. Twigs may be in boxes or bags. Individuals removing their diseased elm trees should call City Hall to schedule a pickup. Please note that leaves, grass, and other compostable material must be in the clear City of Crookston bags and will be collected on your regular garbage collection day.

The Crookston Care and Share are now accepting donations of Women’s, Men’s, and children’s clothing, toiletries, and other everyday items. Donations may be dropped off at the Care and Share Center at 220 East Third Street.

The Crookston Public Library’s Books & Brews Book Club meet on the fourth Tuesday of every other month at 6:30 pm at Drafts Sports Bar and Grill. They will discuss books and enjoy beverages. Appetizers are provided by the Friends of the Crookston Public Library; participants are responsible for the cost of thein food and drinks. All are welcome.
